Update: May 2015
May 29, 2015
It has been quite a while since I have posted/updated on here so Im going to give you a run down of all the things that have been happening since the start of May
"The Indian Queen" was a smashing success with the last night over-selling so much that we had to provide extra seating and sell additional standing tickets. The entire cast and crew were an absolute joy to work with and I look forward to working with our director, Rebecca Hanbury, again in the future.
Following this, I finished my dissertation on Opera and Popera's place in popular culture and am awaiting the results from this. It was incredibly interesting to delve into the culture field that I am interested in and critically reflect on its past, present and future in today's modern society.
My final recital for my undergraduate BA Music degree went extremely well also. I performed a selection of songs in English, French and German equating to a half-hour recital. A massive thank you goes out to everyone who attended the recital, all who helped organize it and especially to my singing teacher for her hard work.
The day after my recital saw an exciting trip to Paris with the Brighton Chamber Choir to perform in a concert at the American Church. We performed some Beibl, Dvorak and I was given the opportunity to sing the soprano solo of Tippett's Five Negro Spirituals which was a privilege to do in the wonderful city of Paris.
Now that I have finished my degree, I am eagerly awaiting my results day and graduation and am looking forward to starting as a masters student at Trinity LABAN music conservatoire in London in September!
As I am now not working at University, I am quite free to perform at functions and further improve on my technique and repertoire over the break. If you are looking for a soprano for a function of any kind please feel free to contact me!
